Illusionistic Relationships
Series
This series is an ongoing exploration of the relationship between design and the conceptual intricacies of human relationships experienced within one’s self and with others.
Artists Statement:
There is a fragility found within the structures seen in this series.
While all the pieces are in fact wearable, the individual wearer would be conscious of the pieces existence, such as one would be aware and conscious if experiencing the emotions interpreted through the work.
As this body of work explores an aspect of the human experience, the fragility serves as a reminder of the humanity we all hide behind the illusion of an unbothered existence.

Solitude
Part of the series: Illusionistic Relationships; a visual representation of the feeling of solitude.
This concept can be interpreted by the missing set of prongs, or rather “arms” from the setting- forcing the piece to hold the stone by itself. While the stone can be supported by only one set of prongs, it would structurally be more stable and secure with two. A split band was used to represent an emptiness inside or another form of a missing piece.
The illusion of a complete ring can be seen from different points of view.
Union
Part of the series: Illusionistic Relationships; a contemporary wedding ring.
The stone and pearl represent two different souls coming together in union. They are tension set under a single prong setting which follows the chromosome style setting seen throughout this series.
The fragility of this piece is important; if the pearl and gem stray from supporting one another the piece will break and fall apart- symbolic of the fragility of a human relationship and the effort/work that has to go into maintaining it as well as it’s stability.
The band pattern represents the chasing, or rather give and take of lovers required before reaching the point of union.
Delusion
Part of the series: Illusionistic Relationships; a visual representation of the feeling of delusion in a relationship.
The stone settings are modeled after human chromosomes, and each setting/gem represents the expression of a soul.
The ring design changes depending on what angle you view the ring from- like how a relationship can take different shapes depending on who's point of view you are looking at/hearing from. The multiple stones (souls) can be attributed to the fact that there may be more people in a relationship than realized.

Raw Rubies and brass metal
Inspired by a birthmark (hemangioma) on my neck, that has held the weight of many negative comments throughout my life. This climbing necklace is fitted with raw rubies accentuating the color of the hemangioma and emphasizing the raw, vulnerable, conceptual nature of the piece. The woven pattern of the hand-crafted brass chain is designed to replicate the birthmark’s veiny structure and formation up the neck, to the ear. The piece not only celebrates this deformity but decorates it in a uniquely beautiful way.
This piece was later added onto Monroe Effect

The Experiment
An experimental piece that meshes a modernized, architectural style of jewelry design with innovative stone-setting techniques.
This cocktail ring turns heads- featuring a large emerald cut quartz stone encased in sterling silver. The raised fine silver finish around the ring gives it an angelic appearance with the a smokey white glow.
The Ribcage Armor
This brass ribcage is representative of the struggles of being a woman, more specifically, a woman with large breasts. The piece hangs from the back of the neck applying all the weight of the piece to that area of the wearer. This placement of the weight matches a stress point shared by those carrying the anatomical weight around. The piece is fixed permanently to the wearer once the chain is locked in place- similar to the permanence of a body part- adding further to the stress of wearing the piece and the significance of the subject matter to the piece.
