ARTIST STATEMENT
Mikayla Giannini
Artist, Creative, Designer
Mikayla Giannini is a skilled multi-media artist focused primarily in Jewelry Design, Metalsmithing, Painting. Inspired by her own life experiences and aspects of the world around her, her work address themes of, illusion, the human experience, biological references, aesthetics, and femininity. She hopes that others will be able to relate to the subject matter of her work and find a type of solace within the realization of a shared or newly realized experience.
Whats Next?
Mikayla hopes to push her practice into the realm of large public sculptures while exploring and capturing even more captivating conceptual concepts through her work during her time in the MFA Low-Res program at SAIC.
Bio
Mikayla Giannini is an artist based out of Dallas, TX. She completed a Bachelor of Fine Arts (BFA) degree with an emphasis in Jewelry Design and Metalsmithing and a minor in International Studies at Texas Tech University. (Dec. 2023). She graduated top of her class with Summa Cum Laude academic recognition. Currently, Mikayla is looking forward to beginning a Low-Residency Master of Fine Arts (MFA) program with The School of the Art Institute of Chicago (SAIC) to further expand her studies and research through her artistic practice. (2024-2026). Mikayla has earned an abundance of merit and talent based awards throughout her time as an artist and student, such as the Mrs. Linda S. & Dr. John M. Filippone, Jr. - Medici Circle Scholarship Endowment (2023). Her work has continued to earn recognition through national and international exhibitions, publications and magazines dating back as far as 2017. (Listed here).
